I don't have the directions anymore but give them a call and surely they can provide advice and directions. We are pleased with the Carefree, not automatic, awnings for our newest coach and simply don't leave the patio awning out unattended or in wind conditions. My automatic function doesn't appear to work. I think retracting the awning when leaving or if it gets windy is not too hard of a task. Our 2004 Weather Pro awning is not terribly accurate, either. Sometimes it rolls up in the lightest breeze, other times it's getting buffeted by the wind and it just sits there. I like the convenience and how quick it helps to set and break camp.īottom line is don't rely on it to roll up in a storm automatically. I've had mine out in some strong winds (Delta is always windy) and its never had a problem. Wind sensor is more of a headache than help. I have had my Weather Pro sensor and controller replaced twice, Dometic say's replace both at same time as they are a matched set, and I wouldn't trust it any further than I could throw the MH. I have sat in a lawn chair, experimenting, with the remote in hand during windy conditions and it is really scary what that awning will do in a high wind. Most of the time I chicken out and push the remote before it rolls up on it's own. Besides, by then, the wife is usually begging me to roll it up before it blows off. I'm told the controller has some kind of constant wind monitoring system where the wind has to be sustained at 18 mph, for a certain period of time before it rolls up. Well, winds where I travel are seldom constant at a certain speed and I know w/o a doubt that a good gust could destroy it before the system ever woke up and gave a Roll Up Command. My experimenting has led me to this conclusion: sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. ![]() Be sure to adhere to Weather Pro's wire gauge recommendations and add fuses at positive power before switches.Have heard their sensors did change but don't know the specifics. Total expense for this project $ 40.00+. If you have no need for the wind sensor or hand remote, or remote switch in storage, wire awnings direct for longer motor life and trouble free operation. Both motors now work with gusto from inside the coach and i am getting 13+- volts to the motors. Rewired the new switches (12 AWG) direct to awning motor and door awning motor and reinstalled in original position to the left of passenger seat. I then removed and replaced the Winny switches which do not have sufficient amp rating to handle the job. I bypassed the Winny wiring harness and ran new 10 AWG lines to breaker in front electrical cabinet. ![]() The switch i am using is peak rating at 30 amp, twice the fused value of the awning requirements. ![]() ![]() ($260-300) I decided instead to eliminate the control box altogether and use two DPDT momentary reverse polarity switches, (Amazon, DC Momentary Reversing Rocker Switch double pole double throw) ( one for the patio awning, the other for the door awning. I decided to replace the A&E control with one designed for the 9100E, but changed my mind when i determined how much they cost. (Bad Idea!!!)įrom the start the awning did not work properly. The brand new unit was hooked to the original A&E control box. The OEM awning was replaced with Dometic's Weather Pro 9100E. At one point I replaced the original A&E Power awning because the motor was diagnosed as being defective and a replacement was not available because of Dometic's take over of A&E. My 02 Winnebago Journey has for some time been troublesome in regard to the awnings tendency to stop during extention and/or retraction. ![]()
